Ever heard the expression weekend warrior. Well that's me. Because every weekend I have to fight my wants (I want chips, I want chocolate, I want to stay on this couch all day) and the pushy (though well intended) offerings of others (let's eat out, have more food/dessert).
It is so hard to get through the weekend in tact. But I keep trying.
This weekend was not the exception. It started Friday night with a trip to Chili's while visiting with friends. Then it was a trip to a theme park on saturday. And ended with a trip to Chili's on Sunday. (i hardly ever go there and this weekend 2 visits!!)
Well what helped me get through it was SHARING. yes, shared appetizers and entree with some one else. Shared a funnel cake between 3 people. didn't get any ice cream. had 1 diet soda and lots and lots of ice water.
Another tip is to flex your NO muscle. in a polite way of course. but dont be scared to say no thank you.
till next time!

NSV (non scale victories)
So I got a spark email with a link to a message board about NSVs and it got my wheels going...
My favorite NSV (non scale victory) so far has been fashion! Many great designers do not cater to plus size women. or even just regular sized women with curves. I mean I'm latina and even if I'm skinny I HAVE curves!
So n e way back on track. when I came down 30 lbs I discovered I could fit nicely into some Michael Kors, Rachel Pally and Adriana Papel dresses. Yes. Dresses! They are high quality, well made and very flattering. I just love them. I must admit i got a little carried away and purchased some that don't quite fit yet but it is my mission to fit!
So fashion is a great NSV and motivator to stay on track. When my favorite Michael Kors trench coat decides to be a bit snug I know its time to amp up my work outs.
Other retailers I would recommend are Target, Lane Bryant and Torrid even Forever 21+ (although for my body type, larger midsection most of their items don't always work). It takes some time to find the right thing, the one that is going to make you feel amazing. But it is possible. Even when I was 300lbs i found that THING. So never fear.
Here are some tips that I have had to learn-
1. Don't go shopping hungry or right after you ate
2. Don't think nothing is going to fit even before stepping in to the store
3. Don't go shopping if you are in a bad mood
4. sign up for email newsletters (coupons!!)
5. Go to the store (no internet shopping, unless I have been to the store and I know exactly how that item of clothing is going to fit)
6. take your time
7. if it calls your attention grab it ( i don't care if its bright and has stripes, I like it!!!)
8. try it on!! (even if your not going to buy it or you want to order it online to get a better deal)
9. if ur size doesn't fit don't cry, go up a size or two (it's just a number)
10.shop clearance section and if you have a coupon even better! (after all your on a journey to better health and you don't want to shell out $50 bux a top or dress every time)
I think those are all my words of wisdom for today.
Thank you for reading this.
If your still reading this, Congratulations! and please leave a comment or add your tips.

Big Changes
i never feel like erasing previous posts.
i was never very active as you can read.
But i was quite funny. troubled. or something...
n e ways.
big changes are coming.
i have a greater understanding of myself and am looking forward to giving back.
i have found support and inspiration in places like youtube and twitter, who would have thought that was possible.
and now i plan to use this as a way to reach out and do the same to one person.
so.....let's see if i can wrap my mind around posting more frequently, at the very least more than 2x in 3 years.

New beginings!
I have decided to start fresh.
To vent and not care.
Here I will take time to explore anything and everything that fills my brain.

right now i am trying to learn to sew.
that's not going particularly well.
but i am determined not to give up.
I have made a few things.
kinda wearable.
look very homemade.
but practice makes perfect right?
I will post some pictures of some projects soon.
I have a nice stash of vintage patterns.
Please take this short survey for your chance to win one of my patterns.
((picture coming soon))

it hurts
and this box taunting me
day in
day out
showing me all thats out there
all it could be
